check out the wear and tear on these Black Cats
In real life , these Black Cats were well weathered and suffered all sorts of damage from natural elements as well as the enemy guns.
I chipped most of the leading edges with vallejo flat green (the zinc chromate protective coating). Different shades of the green will represent chipping over a time span of the Black Cat's service period. Deeper chipping would expose the metal surface
A wash of very diluted Black-Burnt Umber oil paint gave the Black Cat an appearance of more dirt and grime. A wash of diluted Burnt Umber oil paint was applied near the areas of the exhaust pipes to represent exhaust stains.
At last, the masks were removed ( I was suppose to wait till the diorama was completed ).........
What next????
