Old Revell 1/32 Kits.....recycled

The latest slideshow is of two Revell 1/32 scale model kits that were manufactured in the 70s. Purchased new, started on but never completed and later sold on EBAY years later. I bought it for about USD 15 apiece, reconstructed and painted it. Lots of work and yet a good way to learn from scratch about modelling aircraft kits. Quality is poor in comparison with current plastic kits. Both models have wrong dimensions and missing lots of detail. However with TLC and joy in OTBs, both turned out ok.

I still need to paint the tips of the blades as well as add the antennae wires to the Zeke and the Jug before calling it complete.

Carry on modelling folks

Wonder what ARMIE looks like now?...

Added some slideshows to the blog. First shows what ARMIE's new layout looks like. The two other slideshows contain few picture shots taken during the Tamiya Competition in 2007. Enjoy!

Noob's attempt at figures

Hey all,

Here is my first attempt at modifying a figure. The aim is to get a man and a child posing for a photo. Here's the work so far.

Here's the man's head with ball cap and sunglasses

Man's body modified.

Man carrying child.

Will probably have to rethink the idea as the child looks too heavy for the man's arm.

Stay tuned for more!

Fresh out of the oven

Hello everyone,

Here are some kits which were completed by our community members recently.

F-16 Group Build (Academy 1/48 F-16 Thunderbird)

Academy 1/48 scale F-16 Thunderbird

Far from weird, this F-16 was built straight from the box and by the numbers ie a typical Thunderbird. Took awhile for me to complete, as with most early academy kits, construction was tedious. There is an old saying...you get what you pay for. This academy kit cost about SGD 20, a whole lot cheaper than Hasegawa or Tamiya BUT then lets not talk about the accuracy of the kit. Surprisingly, the early academy decal set was not the monster I thought it was. With a bit of patience and copious amount of Mr. Mark Softer. I tamed the 'THUNDERBIRD'. Considering that I build mostly armour kits, the outcome of this bird looks ok to me.

Wait till you see the rest of the F-16s! done by other members :)
