BLACK CAT ...WIP

Today , the Blackcat received more tones of black-grey shades. I added sail colour and hull red to the black-grey mixture to represent grime. Masks on clear parts were left on until the entire diorama is complete.

Next the decals went on. I used the gloss-coat, decal, gloss-coat, flat-coat method. During the process, copious amount of Mark Softer was used as the academy decals are often thick and hard to set.

All other parts were attached. The undercarriage was assembled up to accommodate a diorama at the final stage. More to come.....more weathering and CHIPPING

With the mask securely placed on all clear parts, the Blackcat was given its coat of flat black. The canvas covered portion was given various shades of sail, hull red, dark grey and light grey.

Very important to be subtle and add in stages then to overdo it, be it weathering , washing, filtering and chipping.

Academy PBY 5A Black Cat...WIP

The Academy Blackcat was not too difficult to assemble. In fact it was a decent molding for the price of the kit. After the clear parts were masked with good old reliable Tamiya masking tape and port holes covered with blue tack.
